Curriculum Intent

Life in all its fullness – a place to thrive.

Our curriculum enables the holistic development of our pupils through a rounded education.

The curriculum is at the heart of a school’s purpose and our curriculum reflects our Trust vision: life  in all its fullness – a place to thrive. At Hope Sentamu Learning Trust we recognise that improving  educational outcomes is the biggest way we can positively impact our students’ futures. We take  the term ‘educational’ in its most broad sense: this means more than just a set of results1.

It includes a child’s intellectual development, but also social and emotional development, citizenship  and responsibility, happiness and success. We hope that this vision is ‘lived’ in the way teachers  develop the curriculum and the way students experience it. We want a curriculum that is effectively designed and implemented, that is true to subjects’ core content and concepts, develops a love of lifelong learning, and creates beautiful work, expertise, fascination and wonder2.

The curriculum at George Pindar School is key to the development of the whole child. Whilst each student covers subjects as listed below, the essential thread throughout each lesson every day is to stretch, challenge and enthuse every student to give their very best and develop a passion for future life.

At George Pindar School, every student is truly known and often individually tailored programmes are developed to maximise their individual potential.

Beyond the classroom students experience wider opportunities through taking part in numerous extra curricula activities, community events, school performances and trips both at home and abroad.

Our Curriculum Aims

  • To offer all students a broad, balanced and rich experience which will equip them to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
  • To create the conditions in which all students can grow and develop resilience and creativity.
  • To develop thoughtful, responsible, informed members of the local, national and international community.
  • To maximise outcomes for students so they are well placed for the next stage in their education, employment or training.
