SMSC and British Values

Promoting British Values

George Pindar School prepares learners for life in modern Britain through our personal development, Religious Education and subject curriculums. Students are equipped to be responsible, respectful, active citizens who contribute positively to society; developing their understanding of fundamental British values; their understanding and appreciation of diversity; celebrating what we have in common and promoting respect for the different protected characteristics as defined in law.

Spiritual Development

The Spiritual development of our students aims to develop their knowledge and understanding of the principal religions of the world as well as non-religious world views e.g Humanism. We encourage all of our students to learn about and from  different religions, beliefs and traditions so that they can develop their own sense of identity as citizens in modern Britain today and contribute to a global community.

Moral Development

Our personal development curriculum helps students to build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem. To identify and manage risk and make informed choices; understanding the difference between right and wrong.

Social Development

Our students’ social development involves students acquiring an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of being part of families and communities (local, national and global) and an ability to relate with others and work with others for the common good in a variety of different social contexts. Social development is promoted through our Pindar Values and is delivered through subject curriculums, tutor programmes, assemblies, trips and visits, student voice and extra curricular activities.

Cultural Development

Students’ cultural development involves students acquiring an understanding of cultural traditions and an ability to appreciate and respond to the wide variety of cultural influences that have shaped their own heritage and that of others.  It encourages students to show an interest in others’ way of doing things and a curiosity about differences. It develops their willingness to participate in and respond positively to artistic, musical, sporting and cultural opportunities. Cultural development is promoted through our Pindar Values and is delivered through subject curriculums, tutor programmes, assemblies, trips and visits, student voice and extra curricular activities.

Educate Against Hate

Parents

We all want our children to live in a safe and loving environment so that they can grow up to become happy, confident adults. We know that children can be vulnerable to risks both inside and outside the home, and will have taken steps to protect them so they can grow, learn and develop to their fullest potential.

Protecting children from radicalisation and extremism is similar to protecting them from the other harms you may be more familiar with such as drugs, gangs and sexual exploitation.
